On September 2, 2022 the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the California Department of Public Health recommend a bivalent booster dose for fully vaccinated individuals. This qualifies anyone ages 5 years and older who received their second dose of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine two months ago, or ages 12 and older who received Novavax two month ago and 18 and older who received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine two months ago can get the Pfizer or Moderna booster of their choice. Individuals ages 50 years and older or ages 12 and older who are moderately and severely immunocompromised are eligible to receive a 3rd dose four weeks after their second dose and in two months are eligible for a bivalent booster.
